Moorland School

Co-Educational & Boarding School

Personality

Moorland is a non-selective, co-educational school which teaches a combination of ‘Day Students’ within the Lancashire area and ‘Boarding Students’ from across the UK and overseas.

Our student intake has always been broad since we offer more than simply academic excellence.

Our main admissions criteria centre on favourable school reports, good behaviour, a positive outlook and a willingness to learn.

Our day pupils travel the length and breadth of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley, often using our convenient school bus service.

Many of our boarders come from forces families or have parents who work or travel abroad. In addition, Moorland also has a growing contingent of international students, broadening their horizons through an English education. It all adds up to a perfect mix.

Our Culture

With a long history of succeeding at the highest level, Moorland School achieves these standards by valuing every individual and ensuring that their potential is maximised.

Small class sizes, capped significantly lower than most other schools, allow us to offer close tuition for each student.

Every need is detected and served as opposed to being in an overcrowded environment where students can become lost amongst others.

Students benefit from having teachers that make every child feel valued and feeling a sense of belonging to a school where all enjoy their education without barriers. Every parent sends their child to an independent school to achieve and enjoy their education.

Our Pupils

This is a key feature of the success of every child at our school. The pastoral care system at Moorland is unique in its ability to ensure our students feel valued both inside and outside the classroom.

At Moorland School we are constantly striving to ensure we provide a rich and warm family environment.

Whether it is in the classroom, the playing fields or even the school canteen we want our students to feel at home.

All teachers benefit from being able to teach small class sizes which allow for a greater understanding between teacher and student.

This ensures that a Moorland education is tailored to each individual and each child leaves Moorland School equipped to succeed in their lives.

Well done to the Moorland Ballet students on a successful first week back after the half term holidays. Many students travel a great distance in pursuit of their dreams and commit with such determination from a very young age. We have witnessed some very creative and emotive choreographic work from the students, which we look forward to sharing. We even embraced a little Balanchine work and started to look at the "Stars and Stripes", intricate and energetic choreography. Students have assessed personal targets and goals for the second half of this term and we look forward to a busy but rewarding few weeks.
